Best Panini Grill

Would this grilled cheese recipe work?

I would butter one side of each piece of wheat toast. Place thinnly sliced deli cornned beef and a couple slices of swiss cheese. And then grill in the pan. Do you think that would taste good? Sort of like a Rueben sandwich minus the saurcrat? How about with pickels inside once its done?? I didnt mean TOAST... I meant BREAD

  1. That sounds good...maybe with a little mustard?
  2. put the cheese down first. then the beef. the cheese will hold it all together
  3. Sounds good, but I would omit the pickles. But of course if you like them then add them. :-)
  4. I put pickles in mine. Layer the chese between meat and bread to keep every thing glued together. Good luck
  5. it would work - but don't use toast - use untoasted bread so it doesn't burn too much - unless you like it like that.
  6. i'm sure it would taste just fine. if you like to eat it then go for it. you can't learn what you like without experimentation.
  7. Can I come over for lunch tomorrow?
  8. I think it would taste wonderful. I am not much on Pickels so someone else would have to help you out on that. Also you might consider spreading some spicy mustard, that what we do.
  9. Yes Yes and Yes ............ Gonna go do it now ... you've made me drool........... plus the pickles ......... oh and a dash of mustard ........ but will use a french stick ........ yummy .....
  10. My boyfriend makes it with a bagel, uses four different cheeses, thyme and butter. It's reallly good. I think it's cheddar, jack, bleu, and someother kind of cheese - I don't know.
  11. that will work. you have to be careful when you flip it!
  12. Sounds excellent - the corned beef and swiss are a natural pair! If you like pickles, that would add to the taste. On some 'reubens' a bit of Ranch Dressing is used - you may want to try that. Enjoy! P.S. If I had the corned beef I'd make one right now.
  13. Yes, I make grilled cheese w/ thn deli meat inside all the time. If you want it to REALLY taste like a Reuben, skip pickles, use Thousand Island Dressing inside as a spread, and use seeded rye bread. mmmm!
  14. If you're a fan of cornned beef it would. Since I'm not I'd put imported boiled ham instead with a couple of slices of tomato with the swiss cheese. I love it. Of course pickles if they're dill!
  15. Sounds yummy...but keep the pickles on the side. Just my opinion.
  16. Beat an egg pour onto a plate dip the wheat bread both sides place in a pan. Heat the grill. Place one spoonful oil in the pan and fry one side until brown. Lay the corned beef on and sprinkle with edam. you could add a little sliced tom (thin) but under the cheese. When brown on the bottom place under the grill watch until the cheeses melts and just starts to go brown. The pickels a side dish dont heat it ps english mature cheese the best for toast
  17. umm..that sounds very good...i think i am going to try it next time for lunch
  18. Well, a Rueben sandwich is made with rye bread, (take my word for it, I grew up in Nebraska where Ruebens were invented) but that's beside the point. Why are you starting with wheat TOAST and then grilling? Most grilled sandwiches start with buttered BREAD... that becomes toasted when grilled. You may end up drying out or even burning your toast before the meat & cheese ever get hot. . A bit of mustard (my favorite) would be great with this sandwich, but Russian or Thousand Island dressing are traditional with Ruebens. Your condiment of choice should be added before grilling so it too gets hot. . I would just have the dill pickles cold on the side.
  19. Try using regular mayonnaise instead of butter, for spreading on the outside. It's really good. Corned beef and swiss sounds great! Pickles would probably be good, because cheese sandwich w/ pickles is tasty.
  20. go for it :)
  21. First, I don't see the need to use toast instead of plain bread, since it ends up being toasted as it's "grilled". If you start with toast, it might end up too hard and dry. Second, my mother always made her (and sometimes our, if we wanted it) grilled cheese sandwiches with pickle relish inside (cooked together with the cheese, not added afterwards -- how would you do that, once the inside is all melted and gooey?), and they were very good. Of course, it depends on your personal tastes.
  22. i will be right there!!! yum yum
  23. I make regular complete grilled Reubens all the time: rye bread, corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut & 1000 Island Dresssing. I grill them in my electric frying pan, & they are AWESOME!! Serve with chips & pickles, & you will be good!!
  24. OH man I might need to try that sometime.
